Clients often tell us they want to be “happier.” But how do you get there?
First, define what “happier” means to you.
Is it spending more time with friends/family?
Is it spending more time by yourself?
… maybe it’s as simple as having more joyful moments throughout the day?
But how do you achieve more joyful moments throughout the day?
Start by paying attention to the small stuff that makes you smile. Listen for joyful noise.
What is joyful noise?
According to Arleen Fitzgerald, L.I.C.S.W. ( mental health consultant), it could be
“a whisper of gratitude for a stunning sunset,”
“a belly laugh at a child’s sweet silliness,” or even
a “’Yes!’ for a challenged mastered.” Click here to read her full post.
What’s your joyful noise? What makes you smile?
Is it the sigh from your dog as he adjusts for the 20th time where he is laying on the floor?
Is it the breeze gently tickling the wind chimes on your porch?
Is it the soft gurgle of your coffee pot letting you know your coffee is ready?
No matter how small it may be, if it makes you smile, it’s worth listening. Share with us your joyful noise.
