When temperatures exceed 90 degrees, it’s really hard for me to stick to my workout routine. As much as I try, my motivation seems to wilt with extreme heat.

Do you have this same problem?

To combat my wilted motivation here are three things I do:

1- Each night before falling asleep, I decide what my workout goal will be. Some days it’s walking/running for five miles. Other days may be strength training.

2- As soon as I get out of bed, I dress for the gym. In this way, I have no time to make excuses. I just dress and go with my workout plan still fresh on my mind.

3- I moved my workout inside. Yes, it’s extremely boring on the treadmill. But at least I’m in an air conditioned environment. I just turn on energetic music and turn off my mind from thinking too much about it.

If you struggle with staying motivated during extreme heat, try what I do. It may be easier to sign-up for a morning class instead of planning a workout. No matter what you choose as your workout, stay motivated – don’t let it wilt with extreme heat.
